Dave: a Transit that was smoking quite badly

Dave at Banstead Road Garage on a smoking Transit: three products and a road test

Dave, Banstead Road Garage · Filmed 6 November 2025 · 0:25

Dave has worked at Banstead Road Garage in Carshalton for over 20 years and has run it for about eight. In this 25-second clip, filmed in the workshop on 6 November 2025 as part of a longer interview with TEC 2000, he talks about a Transit that came in smoking quite badly.

He lists what the garage did: an engine flush, a fuel treatment and a can of oil booster, followed by an extended road test. When it came back, he says, the smoke was less and it did not sting your eyes as much when you stood next to it in the workshop.

Dave: We had a Transit in that was smoking quite badly, as some of them do. We did an engine flush, a fuel treatment, and also a can of oil booster.

Dave: Drove the car on a extended road test, brought the car back, and we could see that the smoke was less and it wouldn't sting your eyes as much when you were standing in the workshop next to it.

Dave: So that was good news for everybody, including the customer.
