Simon, Fallsbrook Motors · Filmed 7 November 2025 · 4:16
Simon runs Fallsbrook Motors in Streatham, south London, a garage that has been on the same site since around 1952. It went through three generations of the Bate family before he took it over in 2019, and he has used TEC 2000 since his apprenticeship at a Ford main dealer, around 2001 or 2002. We filmed him at the garage on 7 November 2025.
In just over four minutes he talks about the garage's history, offering TEC 2000 as a bolt-on to every service, a lease VW Crafter on around 80,000 miles whose oil filter came out completely gunged up, what he does when a diesel fails on emissions, and the Oil Booster he puts in his own classic cars, including the 1968 Jaguar 420 in the workshop. The two cans in the Crafter story are TEC 2000 Engine Flush, used with a separate flushing oil.

Narrator (TEC 2000): Fallsbrook Motors has been fixing cars in Streatham, south London, since 1952. Simon took it over in 2019, and he has used TEC 2000 since his apprenticeship, around 2001. Here he talks about a VW Crafter with an oil filter blocked solid.
Simon: So we think it sort of started in 1952, by the Bate family. Been a garage on this site all of that time. There's some other pictures up there of when it used to be lockups.
Simon: It went through three generations of the Bate family, and I took it over in 2019.
Simon: So, well, over 70 years of being here as a garage. A long time.
Simon: I've been using TEC 2000 products since I was an apprentice, so started using them in approximately 2001, 2002, when I worked at a Ford main dealer.
Simon: We offer them to every customer that is having a service done as, like, a bolt-on to their service, which, you know, most of them go for.
Simon: We certainly notice a difference if we're doing any engine work on our customers' vehicles that do opt for the flushes every year. The engine internals are always a lot cleaner, so yeah, you can really tell that TEC 2000 does make a difference.
Simon: Fuel system cleaners, again, with customers that do use them, we notice we get a lot less, like, injector problems, fuel pump problems. Customers also report an increase in miles per gallon as well.
Simon: You always notice when you're draining the oil after adding the flush that it comes out a lot quicker, so it obviously dilutes that oil, meaning that you're getting more of the oil out of the engine.
Simon: Just last week we had a VW Crafter. It was a lease van that had done, I think, around about 80,000 miles. Took the filter out, which I've shown you a picture of, completely all gunged up and obviously not doing its job. We thought we might have a, you know, it would be bye bye to the engine.
David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah, to the engine.
Simon: But we put a new filter in.
David (TEC 2000 UK): Okay.
Simon: Two of these in it...
David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah.
Simon: ...with some flushing oil. Ran it up for, you know, a good 20, 30 minutes. New oil, new filter again. And it's gone out and all seems to be all right.
Simon: So with diesels, we will, if we got a bit of an emissions failure, we'd normally recommend a new oil filter, air filter, fuel filter. And obviously the flushes to go along that.
David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah.
Simon: And you would normally find that it will bring the vehicle's emissions down to the desired levels to get it through its MOT.
Simon: All of my classic cars will always have an Oil Booster 'cause obviously seals, rubber seals, they start to crack and whatnot in the classic cars.
Simon: This is a 1968 Jaguar 420. I've got a 1990 Jaguar XJS, a 2006 Jaguar XK, and I've also got a '67 Mustang.
Sławek (TEC 2000): Wow.
Simon: And they all have TEC 2000 products, so yeah. Used them for a long time.
Narrator (TEC 2000): That was a working mechanic talking about his own jobs, not a marketing department. TEC 2000 has made engine chemistry in Britain since 1994. The same cans Simon puts in customers' cars, and in all four of his own. tec2000.com.
