Sean

Sean, Turner Automotive: the customer who couldn't see the oil

Sean, mechanic at Turner Automotive in Twickenham, on over ten years of using TEC 2000

Sean, Turner Automotive (The Green) · Filmed July 2024 · 4:22

Sean has worked with cars for 40 years and started his career at Ferrari. We filmed him in July 2024 at Turner Automotive, The Green, Colne Road, Twickenham, sitting at a desk in the workshop with four cans of TEC 2000 in front of him. He has used TEC 2000 products for over ten years. David from TEC 2000 UK asks the questions.

Sean talks about what he sees when he drains the oil after an Engine Flush, a car behind the camera that had failed its emissions test that day, a very old Volvo that was massively over the limit, and Oil Booster on BMWs that were burning oil. He also says he puts one in his own petrol car about once a month, and tells the story of the customer who checked the dipstick, could not see any oil and came back to say none had gone in.

Narrator (TEC 2000): Sean started at Ferrari. Forty years on, we meet him at Turner Automotive. He has used TEC 2000 for over ten years. Keep watching for the customer who could not see any oil on the dipstick. They came back to say none had gone in.

Sean: I've been working with cars now 40 years. Yeah, 40 years exactly this year, in fact. Yeah.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Where did you start?

Sean: Believe it or not, I started off at Ferrari, literally.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Really?

Sean: Yeah.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Okay.

Sean: So I was trained Ferrari for the first sort of 10, 15 years of my career.

David (TEC 2000 UK): So how long have you been using the TEC 2000 products for?

Sean: So the TEC 2000 products were first introduced to me around about 10, 11 years ago, maybe 12 years ago. And immediately I could see a difference in the product, particularly with the engine flush, which is the green one there. I could tell, you know, as an engineer draining the oil out...

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah, yeah, exactly.

Sean: ...I can absolutely tell that all of the muck is coming out with that oil. It becomes looser, more fluid coming out. You know it's done its job.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah. So why do you recommend these products on every service?

Sean: Well, it's like, how can I put it? It's like when you have a shower, you don't come back out the shower and put back on dirty clothes.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah.

Sean: You've got to put clean oil into a clean engine, and there's your answer.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah. Yeah. True.

Sean: You know, I guarantee that's going straight back in the engine.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah.

Sean: And it's pulling out all the rubbish.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah. That's it. And obviously, you know, you're very impressed with the fuel system cleaners as well.

Sean: Most impressed with the fuel system cleaner, particularly the diesel cleaner, which is that one there. Again, I've got cars... well, there's a car right behind us, right behind the cameraman right now. That car there today has failed its emissions test, not by a massive amount, but by .1 or .2 over the top on its cubic litres of soot. And I'm pretty certain that I've added one of these into the tank for the customer already. So when the customer collects, he's gonna go out and do a motorway run over the course of the evening or the weekend. And then when he comes back to me, I am dead certain, as I've experienced in the past many times with that, that it'll be under the limits coming back.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Okay. And, yeah, so you say experiences. You got any other experiences where it's really dramatically lowered emissions?

Sean: Yeah, I have on a few Volvos. Again, the first time using it in this particular situation, another Volvo, similar situation, way over the top, and I mean massively over the top. Very, very, very old Volvo, and we weren't... at the point of time we put it in, we weren't confident. But the customer took the car out, gave it a good run down the motorway, and again, came back and it flew through the emissions.

David (TEC 2000 UK): And what did you use? You used all three products, TEC 2000?

Sean: On that instance, yes, so we used the engine flush, obviously for the engine oil change, the diesel additives, and... no, it was actually the two products, so yeah, and the diesel additives.

David (TEC 2000 UK): And the oil boost, though, did...

Sean: No, we didn't use the oil booster on that one, at that time.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Oh, okay.

Sean: But we have used the oil boosters on one or two BMWs where they've been burning oil...

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah.

Sean: ...and, you know, consuming oil. And that does work as well. Yeah. So, you know, throughout the range of products, yeah, absolute glowing results all around.

Sean: Personally, in my own petrol car, I put one in about once a month. So I believe in the product. It's not something I'm trying to sell to people just to make for pure profit. I give it to them if it's necessary.

Sean: Yeah, so I have had experiences in the past where a customer's asked me if I have changed their oil, particularly on a diesel vehicle. But also I've had a customer, and this is a very, very funny story, go out to their car on the forecourt, go and check the oil on the dipstick, and because the oil was so clear, come back and tell me that I hadn't put oil back in the car. And it's like, "Well, but I have," you know? It's like...

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah.

Sean: So it's a funny story.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah.

Sean: Funny story. So I've had it from one spectrum to the other spectrum.

Sławek (TEC 2000): Yeah.

David (TEC 2000 UK): Yeah.

Sean: But that's more interesting.

David (TEC 2000 UK): But it's funny 'cause I've had a few people say that, actually.

Sean: Yeah.

David (TEC 2000 UK): You know, yeah, I've heard that story a few times.

Sean: Yeah. It was... the oil was so clear that when they pulled the dipstick they couldn't see it, and I had to come out and assure them with a piece of tissue there was oil in their engine. Yeah. So again, great product.

Narrator (TEC 2000): That was a mechanic with forty years behind him, not a marketing department. Sean puts a can in his own petrol car about once a month, and customers get one when their car needs it. TEC 2000, British engine chemistry since 1994. tec2000.com.
